Swedish central bank, and government websites suffered from cyber attacks Wednesday night from the network Anonymous.

Thursday, 04 October 2012
Swedish central bank, the Riksbank's site and that of the the Swedish government were completely down forcing the government to temporarily replace it with a simpler version at around 22:30.

At 10 o'clock last night, Swedish time, the Riksbank's website went under reports various Swedish media.

"We have suffered a denial of service attack," said press secretary Fredrik Andersson told TT half an hour later.

Payment systems between the Riksbank and the Swedish commercial banks could not be carried out and IT staffs were forced to work on the problem late at night. There was then no forecast for when the website would return to normal functioning.
The network Anonymous has previously attacked the Swedish sites in retaliation against what was described as a police raid on hosting site PRQ with links to The Pirate Bay and WikiLeaks.

The attach of the Riksbank as a targets was discussed on the internet community 4chan, according to reports.

On Wednesday morning, it was impossible to reach the Swedish court's external website domstol.se. There security Official, Hakan Sonesson said the cyber attach looks like the type that affected several companies and authorities on Monday. This was a system whereby the server was forced to over work because a program made it looked like the website had too much traffic and then the site will shot down.

On Tuesday evening, more Swedish government websites were also exposed to cyber attacks. Many of the site's visitors were met by a message from the hacker's organisation popularly called, Anonymous.

Still on Monday several Swedish companies, including Swedbank and SEB, were visited by extensive cyber attacks. The attacks are reported here to be tied to the fight against WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, who is currently wanted in Sweden to answer cases of sex crime.
