Tuesday, 02 October 2012
A new wave of cyber-attacks struck various Swedish organisations on Monday and an immediate closer examination points to supporters of Julian Assange the Swedish police said.

The Swedish Armed Forces, the railway company SJ, the banks Swedbank and SEB, and the news agency TT were among those hard hit on Monday morning by the  so-called DDoS attacks, which overload servers and internet leading it to significant technical problems.
Server logs showed that the attacks came from lots of hacking computers around the world that are connected together.

According to Anders Ahlquist, IT expert at the National Police Board, there is no common denominator for institutions that were affected on Monday.
The pattern observed was that it stroke against major websites in Sweden, according to Ahlquist.

He believes the attacks clearly reflect Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks website who is accused of two counts of sexual assault in Sweden. Authorities say that they see a clearly a link to Free Assange movement.
