The defected whistleblower, Edward Snowden, who is still in transit at
Moscow airport, is now set for the Nobel Peace Prize for his discovery
of the American spy service, NSA surveillance of people worldwide via
the Internet.
Professor of Sociology at Umeå University, Stefan Svallfors is the
master behind the call and sets that Snowden, has to earn the
money because he has made the world a better and safer place by
revealing the illegal U.S. surveillance.
This came in as he wrote in an open letter, that over last weekend was published in a Swedish newspaper, Västerbottens-Kuriren.
The professor compares the case with the Nuremberg trials after World
War II when Nazi top officials in a row were convicted, and the
court did not accept the argument that they merely obeyed orders. At
the same time the professor points out that Snowden's possible receipt
of the price will correct the ill-considered in awarding the prize to
U.S. President Barack Obama in 2009.
Svallfors stress that it will “help to save the Nobel Peace Prize
from the disrepute incurred by the hasty and ill-conceived decision to
award US President Barack Obama 2009 award.”
