Incomes in Sweden have increased more than the average in the EU. At the same time, more people in Sweden run the risk of ending up below the EU limit for economic vulnerability, official data from Statistic Sweden show.

The disposable median income has increased more rapidly in Sweden than in most of the other countries in Europe. During this period incomes have increased in all the surveyed countries except Luxembourg, but it is only in the eastern part of Europe that the increase in income in terms of percent has increased more than in Sweden. Households in the United Kingdom have by and large not had any increase at all, and the rate of increase for countries like Germany and Denmark is about half of that for Sweden.

However, in parallel with the relatively strong income development in Sweden, a rather large share of the population has ended up below the limit that involves a risk for poverty. Read more from statistic Sweden here.
