Swedish Migration Board wants to design a ploy to reject Somali refugees

Tuesday, 13 November 2012
Migration Board no longer believes that there is internal armed conflict in Somalia, which will make it more difficult for asylum seekers from the country to stay in Sweden.
According to a report on Swedish radio on Monday, the new legal stance comes after a study trip made in June, where the Swedish migration Service found that the general security situation in the country has stabilized, although the situation remains fragile with severe conflicts in some parts of the country.

Previously, in principle all Somalis from southern and central areas including the capital Mogadishu have been allowed to stay in Sweden, but now, all asylum seekers from Somalia are be assessed individually threatens the Migration Service.
This is yet another evidence that Sweden is surely tired of what could be is being described here as the persistent influx of Somalis. Added to the fact that it is hard for Somalis to make it in Sweden although they do well in other countries, it is clear for the perception that Sweden is tired of them to be taken as a real stance of the authorities.

Some personalities in Sweden from the Somali community are beginning to get worried that such a stance is a cause of concern. Cabdulqadir Sheriif,  the Somali National Association head is one of those with this concern.

He feels that the decision that it will be more difficult for Somali asylum seekers to stay in Sweden, came unexpectedly. He thinks that the decision to change the assessment of the situation in Somalia has come too early.

Although the situation has stabilized, since the transitional government and African Union forces succeeded in pushing back the al-Shabaab militia. But still, there is increased terrorist attacks and battles often erupt, according Cabdulqadir Sheriif to radio Sweden.
