The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) has assessed the Danish energy usage for 2011 and determines that the following points were observed.
- 23.6 percent of Denmark's total energy consumption came from renewable sources from 22.1 percent in 2010.
- Renewable energy covered 40.7 percent of Danish electricity consumption in 2011. Of this, wind energy reached 28.1 percent.
- Actual energy consumption fell 6.4 percent accounted to almost at the level of consumption in 1990.
- Energy efficiency was improved by 1.7 percent.
- CO2 emissions from energy consumption fell by 10.6 percent to 44.3 million tonnes.
- The Danish production of crude oil, natural gas and renewable energy fell 9.8 percent in 2011.
- Denmark was the
only EU country that was self-sufficient in energy. Energy production
last year was 10 percent higher than energy consumption.
