"Black African people are lazy" - Finnish far right candidate, Kai Haavisto

"The motivation to work is weak among men from Africa." This is the view of Kai Haavisto, who is a politician of the Finnish far right party, True Finns as the party steps up to live to its racist over tone. It cmes at a time when Finland has seen a rise and expansion of far right organisations such as Finish defence league to join the True Finns.
Is this a new issue? No! All the time in the western world, it is said that the high levels of unemployment among black people is because they are lazy. Such discussions usually come either from failed politicians or from the far right section of the political class.

On the whole, the view is that black people are not discriminated due to their history, colour of their skin and the way they look. They are just lazy or naturally not intelligent to do the jobs that are out there in the job market. In places such as Finland, this view is very strong today, especially with the emergence of the Finnish far right party, True Finns.

Although the True Finns, before the municipal elections claimed to have booted out candidates with extreme views, it seems the will have to work harder to verify that in practice.

Haavisto has no real scientific evidence to support that black people are lazy but identified that he based his writings on a TV documentaries.
"According to a documentary, which I now can not remember the name of, men do not work in Africa but just laze the day long. Many of those who come here learn some Finnish after 2-3 generations," says Haavisto, report Finnish broadcaster Yle.

Despite Haavisto disparaging opinions on men from Africa, he emphasizes that he is not racist.
Jarno Eerola, who is vice chairman of the True Finns party in Espoo, says that Haavisto's views are not in line with the party, but still recognize that as a candidate hw must represent himself.

Several municipal candidates in various right-wing organizations, such as Finnish Defence League are on Facebook, just as Kai Haavisto. They spread various hate and divisive messages such as anti Islamisation of Finland. This is the work led by Finnish Defence League, an organization that tries to stop the Islamization of Europe.
