Swedish government wants to reduce its contribution to the UN
Tuesday, 05 March 2013
The Swedish government plans to reduce its contributions to the various UN bodies by up to ten percent according to media reports in Sweden
Speaking to radio Sweden, Minister for Finance, Anders Borg said that "There may be reasons to consider the reduction of contribution ."
The minister said that immigration Service needs more money, as such it is advisable to access this additional need from the contribution the country makes to the UN.
"We have had a very large increase in contribution. Since we have one per cent target, it means an additional Skr1billions during our period of assistance. We have had an increased influx of refugees from countries, an influx of refugees that can be counted as aid. When growth occurs, of course, we'll look at how this is distributed, it is very reasonable," says Minister for Finance Anders Borg to radio Sweden.
