Swedish unemployment rose in February but labour market said to be stable

Swedish Unemployment was 8.5 percent in February, not seasonally adjusted, according to official data from Statistics Sweden's Labour Force Survey (LFS).
According to analysts, it was expected that unemployment rate would be 8.4 percent.

On the whole, a minor changes were observed In February 2013 on the labour market. The number of employed persons aged 15-74 was 4 597 000. The number of unemployed persons was 427 000, corresponding to an unemployment rate of 8.5 percent. On average, the number of hours worked was 151.6 million per week.

Compared to February 2012 there are no statistically significant changes. Seasonally adjusted data shows a slight increase in the number of employed and the increase in the number of unemployed has basically stalled.

In February 2013 the number of employed persons aged 15-74 amounted to 4 597 000. Compared to February 2012, there is no statistically significant change. The employment rate was 64.4 percent. Seasonally adjusted, the number of employed persons amounted to 4 672 000 which corresponds to an employment rate of 65.4 percent.

The number of unemployed persons aged 15-74 amounted to 427 000 in February 2013, corresponding to an unemployment rate of 8.5 percent. There is no statistically significant change compared to February 2012 in the number of unemployed or the unemployment rate. According to seasonally adjusted data, the number of unemployed persons amounted to 415 000, corresponding to an unemployment rate of 8.2 percent.
The labour supply not utilised consists of the unemployed, the underemployed and the latent job seekers. In February 2013 it amounted to 21.9 million hours per week on average, an increase of 1.6 million hours compared to February 2012.
