Swedish foreign trade was down 4 percent 2012

Swedish imports and exports fell by 4 percent in 2012 Swedish. Decreased trade within the commodity group machinery/transport equipment explained the decline to a large extent.
New official data from statistic Sweden show that the value of Swedish exports amounted to SEK 1 169 billion during January-December 2012. This is a decrease of 4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
At the same time, imports decreased by 4 percent and amounted to SEK 1 101 billion. This results in a net trade surplus of SEK 68 billion. The net trade surplus in 2011 was SEK 64 billion.
During the fourth quarter Swedish exports decreased by 6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. During the third quarter exports decreased 8 percent after being unchanged in the first two quarters. Imports fell by 7 percent during the fourth quarter after a decrease by 6 percent in the third quarter.
