Swedish defense laying off 230 staff

At least the fate of at least 230 employees of the Swedish defence will be terminated in the fall in conjunction with changes the authority will be carry as it move forward with its reorganization.

It is not yet determined what services are to be reduced, but it is determined that it will affect both military and civilian personnel.

"We will also offer some employees continued employment at a location other than where they live today. But these 230 are those that we believe will not have any work at all in the Armed Forces after January 1, 2013," said Major General Gunnar Karlsson to Radio Sweden.

Most of the jobs will disappear from Stockholm and Västra Götaland, Western Sweden and the reorganization is determined to continue until the end of the year.
