Stagnation in new company listing on the Stockholm Stock Exchange

Thursday, 27 September 2012
There is listing- dry on the Stockholm Stock Exchange in 2012, as not a single company has been found listed on the stock exchange.

Companies such as wind power company, 02 was about to launch its  IPO, two years ago, but withdrew from the process. According to CEO Johan Ihrfelt, the listing was simply not profitable enough.

"For us, it became more and more apparent that it was the wrong environment to be in, and that long term we would not find the funding we were looking for," he said to radio Sweden.
Last year, five companies listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange's first list. So far this year, not a single company has listed, something, which exchange manager, Jens Henriksson says it is due to the financial turmoil in the world.

One of the basic factors that drive companies to be listed is that the company should be able to raise money from shareholders through so-called emissions. but some companies such as O2 has decided to take money from investors outside the exchange, such as from venture capital firms.

However, to put a company on the stock market can also be a way for company owners to sell the company so they can be paid for their investments. According to Jan Amethier, who is head of Handelsbanken's Department of Corporate Finance, this problem is: many owners consider that it is more profitable to sell their portfolio directly to other companies interested and other such speculators than to put them on the exchange.
