Friday, 18 January 2013
The number of shareholders in various companies in Sweden declined in 2012. At year's end, there were 2,037,941 shareholders in Sweden, which is over 61,000 fewer than a year earlier, according to statistics from the organisation, Euroclear.
The trend has been declining over the past ten years, although it has varied from year to year.
The companies with the most share ownership are in TeliaSonera, Ericsson, Swedbank, SEB and Volvo. More men than women are shareholders, with 91 percent of owners in Swedish companies being Swedes. They own a total of 73 percent of shares.
The foreign shareholders are therefore nine percent, but have 27 percent of the shares.
