Finland ushers World’s largest biomass gasification plant

Described as the first in its size in the world, the plant aims to replace up to 40 percent of the domestic coal used for energy production with biofuels.
The biomass plant to be inaugurated on Monday, in Vaasa, Finland, is the 140MW plant and will produce biogas from wood – mainly from forest residue – to generate electricity and provide heating for residents of Vaasa.
It is described as the largest biomass gasification plant in the world, estimated to generate 400 new jobs, particularly in the field of fuel procurement.
