Who are the leading European financial politicians? Anders Borg Beaten by German on top spot
Thursday, 22 November 2012
It is surprising that even though Europe has been bogged down by economic stagnation since 2008 as well as policy quagmire, there are still those politicians in various EU countries who are considered good on their jobs - even class to world-class level.
Last year the Swedish Finance Minister, Anders Borg was considered the best by the British Financial Times (FT), the economic spreadsheet newspaper. Then Sweden was hailed as the economy in the EU that had weathered the crisis pretty well thanks to skilful leadership and strategic intelligence of Mr. Borg, pictured below.
Although last year, the likes of Germany was also leading in impressive economic development, more than other limping giants such as the UK, German Wolfgang Schäuble was not considered the leading technocrat in Europe.
Well, now the FT has come to its reasoning and placed the German where he belongs - on the top though that still follows in second place by Anders Borg.
According to the Financial Times ranking of EU Finance Ministers, Germany's Wolfgang Schäuble, leading a country that was not touched by the Euro-wide economic crisis and is still performing well now is the best finance minister in Europe.
Germany's economic performance, political ability, and market confidence accounted for him winning that title.
Crowding the lower end of the ranking are finance ministers from Spain, Hungary, Greece and France.
