Former Telia CEO received over Skr20 million in pas as he left the company after scandal

Telia Sonera's former CEO, Lars Nyberg, was paid more than Skr22.5 million in salary and pension provision in 2012, the company's annual report, released today for the Annual General Meeting on 3 April show.

This comes after the former boss left the company due to pressure from various quarters after scandals of bribery and unethical investments  unearthed by Swedish television investigative news program.

One of the scandals had to do with an Uzbek company, Takilant, which it was thought TeliaSonera did business with in Uzbekistan. That is not mentioned at any point in the annual report.

The reports show that Nyberg cost the company, Skr22.5 million in salary and pension contribution in 2012. Since he took office in 2007, he has cost shareholders of the state owned company, more than Skr110 million of which Skr46 million are in a pension fund, which he may start enjoying  when he turns 62 in December.

The state owned telecom company paid its ten-strong group management just over Skr77 million in salaries and pensions last year. TeliaSonera's Board of Directors, for the most part was fired after the scandal with the dealings in Uzbekistan, they received almost Skr4.9 million in fees.

Prelude to the AGM for April 3 is set to be heated. A new bonus program will be discussed and the majority of the board will be replaced. This has made several shareholders have made advance announced that they want to discuss the scandal in relations to Uzbekistan.
