Sweden tops global the importance of internet connectivity comparison
Wednesday, 05 September 2012Sweden tops the global list of countries which have internet as a very important driver of productivity and communication in a country by country comparison.
This has to do with the technical infrastructure, how many people use the internet and what impact it has socially, economically and politically.
The study conducted by the internet based research organisation, Web index, stresses that Sweden is best in the world at putting the Web to work, beating the US and UK for the top spot.
However, the Web remains a largely untapped resource in much of the world, the study shows, with only 1 in 3 people using it globally and fewer than 1 in 6 in Africa.
61 countries are drawn into the World Wide Web Foundation, founded by Tim Berners-Lee - the man who first created the technology behind the Internet.
After Sweden, USA, UK, Canada, came Finland. See the classification.
