Smoking poses the greatest cause of cancer - study

A new comprehensive study  with Swedish participation show that 270,000 people in seven other countries in Europe suffer form caner in various forms  and most of the caner is driven by smoking.

 According to Swedish television, 270,000 people each year are affected by cancer in whole or in part caused by smoking, according to a study involving 440,000 people.
smokingThe 440,000 people in eight European countries were followed to studied the incidence of cancer including lung, intestines, and kidneys. Researchers estimate that on averages 35 percent of all cancers are caused by smoking.

Smoker ran 2.6 times as a more likely to be hit by cancer  and other tobacco related illness than those who never smoked. The increased risk for former smokers was 1.6 times according the study that has been published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

For Sweden, some where around 4500 new cases of cancer could be avoided every year if the individuals are not smokers. Approximately 13 percent of all cancers in Sweden are due to smoking, according to the study.
