Danish Prime Minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt thinks the economic crisis in Europe is over
Tuesday, 10 April 2012
Denmark holds
the rotating presidency of the EU since January 2012 and it couldn’t
have come at a time when the European crisis needed some strong
leadership and courage to bring some hope back to the economy.
Well, the first
Danish Female Prime Minister seems to be doing just right when she said
that worse of the economic and sovereign debt crisis in Europe has now
been pushed to the real.
Although the
Danish economy itself is still reeling with various forms of economic
headache, the EU president and Danish premier said on Tuesday that "We
assumed the presidency at a time where Europe was in a deep economic
crisis, and although the crisis isn't over yet, a lot has happened in
the three months that have passed," Thorning-Schmidt said at a press
conference, pointing to the agreement between 25 EU-states to tighten
fiscal discipline; a stabilization of the Greek sovereign debt
situation; and last week's decision by a meeting of euro-zone finance
ministers to raise the EU's emergency funds to EUR700 billion.
