Volvo and Geely to start new development company

200 new jobs are said to be created in Gothenburg, Sweden as Volvo's Chinese owner, Geely, is said to start a development centre in Gothenburg, which will employ 200 engineers from China and Sweden.

The company will develop a new platform for small cars for Volvo and Geely, reports Swedish television.

Volvo and Geely are said to be making a presentation today, Wednesday about the issue and to give further details. The new development centre is said to be located at Lindholmen in Gothenburg and will be operational by year-end.

The companies will jointly develop a new platform for small cars, it also means that a number of other functions will be merged as there would be joint purchasing and joint research.
