Volvo and Geely to start new development company
Wednesday, 20 February 2013200 new jobs are said to be created in Gothenburg, Sweden as Volvo's Chinese owner, Geely, is said to start a development centre in Gothenburg, which will employ 200 engineers from China and Sweden.
The company will develop a new platform for small cars for Volvo and Geely, reports Swedish television.
Volvo and Geely are said to be making a presentation today, Wednesday about the issue and to give further details. The new development centre is said to be located at Lindholmen in Gothenburg and will be operational by year-end.
The companies will jointly develop a new platform for small cars, it also means that a number of other functions will be merged as there would be joint purchasing and joint research.
