Staoil releases names of the 5 missing employees in Algeria
Monday, 21 January 2013Energy giant Statoil which part ownes the refinery in Algeria, which was in a scene of terrorist activities, last week, has released the names of workers who are missing.
"Everything is being done to find out what has happened," the company said. It is still unclear what happened to the five Norwegians missing after the hostage crisis in Algeria.
Statoil is now out with the names of them its worker whose presence is currently not known "We still have not received any confirmed information about our colleagues," said CEO Helge Lund in a statemenmt.
Statoil continue that it has still not received confirmed information about the five missing Statoil employees. In consultation with the families of those affected as well as the authorities, Statoil has concluded that it is appropriate to publish the names of those missing now, the company writes in a release on its website.
Efforts to establish clarity through search and rescue continues unabated.
“We stand together at this difficult time and are now thinking of the families’ deep uncertainty and despair. We ask that everyone show them consideration in this difficult situation. We will do what we can to support them,” said CEO Helge Lund in the statement.
The name where also announced in a press conference on Sunday also echoes seventeen Norwegians who were at the gas plant when terrorists took hostages on Wednesday. Twelve of them have come home to Norway, but the five mentioned above are still missing.
