35 000 public sector workers strike in Norway
Thursday, 24 May 2012
25 000 municipal employees and 10 000 civil servants in Norway are on strike today after mediation broke down.
It is the first time in 28 years that state employees in Norway went down on strike. Among those affected are schools, police, government agencies and government departments.
One of the few areas that are protected is the trial in Oslo against Anders Behring Breivik.
The mediation in the negotiation of agreements went beyond the academies.
