The Swedish purchasing managers’ index fell in March
Monday, 02 April 2012
The Swedish purchasing managers’ index, PMI, fell in March to 50.2,
which was marginally down from 50.3 in February. This is the second
consecutive month that the index balances around the 50 mark, which is
split between an up-and downturn in the economy.
"This is the second consecutive month that the index balances around
the 50 mark, which is split between an up-and downturn in the economy,"
writes Swedbank and Silf, which produces the purchasing managers' index.
Purchasing Managers' Index is based on interviews with about 200
purchasing managers in manufacturing. An index figure above 50 is
considered to indicate growth in the industrial sector.
The decline is marginal, according Swedbank and Silf.
"While the recovery in the purchasing managers' index has lost
momentum, it is still a cyclical upswing in the industry that emerges
during the first quarter compared with last year's final three months,
an increase of 1.9 index points," they wrote on.
