Swedish / Chinese car maker, Volvo Car Corporation will open a new
development office specialising in HMI (Human Machine Interface) in
Copenhagen. According to radio Denmark, Volvo wrotes on their website
that they move the office to Copenhagen because they can find the right
expertise in Copenhagen.
HMI, which in simple terms means making technology more user-friendly,
is a highly prioritised development area for the company and the right
kind of expertise is to be found in Copenhagen.
Following Nokia's recent restructure in Copenhagen, Volvo Car
Corporation seized the opportunity to hire personnel with spearhead
competence and experience in the field of HMI
development.
HMI has long been a prioritised area in the development of mobile
phones, and with Volvo Car Corporation's new "Designed Around You"
brand strategy this is a prime focal area within the company.
Tomorrow's Volvo cars are to be intuitive and very easy to use.
"We have very high ambitions for HMI. This is one of the areas in which
we intend to grow most and have the best offering on the market. The
establishment of our development office in Copenhagen is an excellent
step to help us reach our goals," says Peter Mertens, Senior Vice
President Research and Development at Volvo Car Corporation.
The new office will add exciting new dimensions to the operation. The
Copenhagen region is a dynamic development hub in the area of mobility,
permitting close cooperation with leading university research faculties
as well as global and local companies.
"Our aim is to hire about 20 HMI specialists. So far we have recruited
about 10 and more are on their way," says Nikolaj Nöhr Rasmussen,
manager of the newly established Copenhagen office.
