Volvo and Sweden expects that the visit of the Chinese premier here on Tuesday should be a boon to the company

On Tuesday, the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will be visiting Volvo Cars Corporation something being that would boost the image of he company.

Volvocars corp., owned by the Chinese is hoped that the visit will favour Volvo Car Corporation's expansion and sales in China, and it is expected that a significant amount of positive pictures and articles from the visit will follow to the Chinese press.

On Monday afternoon, the Chinese Premier, Wen Jiabao, lands at Landvetter Airport near Gothenburg. He begins his Göteborg visit in Ostindiefararen in Gothenburg, where he meets business leaders.

On Tuesday, Wen Jiabao, will visit Chinese-owned Volvo Cars, in which the Prime Minister will in particular see a collision between two cars at the car manufacturer's security centre. Therefore a crash test will occur in for the pleasure of the minister.

Wen Jiabao will visit the final assembly in Torslanda and go a few meters away in a car together with Volvo Cars' CEO Stefan Jacoby.

"Wen Jiabao's visit is symbolically important for our ambitious growth plans in China, "says Volvo Cars' press officer Per-Ake Froberg.

The visit is followed by major Chinese media coverage, with over 40 Chinese journalists who travelled to Sweden to report on the visit. At Volvo Cars, it is hoped the articles and pictures from the visit to the Chinese press will be positive for the company.

"It is clear that it is positive for us if we are in the media associated with Wen Jiabao, "said Per-Ake Froberg.

On site will also be sweden’s Minister for Enterprise, Annie Loof (Centre party) and Volvo Cars' Chairman Li Shufu, who is also chairman and major shareholder in the holding company Zhejiang Geely.

About if there is worries that the visit will contribute to a relocation of Volvo Cars to China, Per-Ake Froberg said that "The concern was two years ago. But it has proved we are growing strongly in Gothenburg, Sweden, while we establish ourselves in China. This is a win-win situation."

Volvo Cars built two car plants in China, and before the summer, the company must decide whether to also build an engine plant in the country. In 2015 the company hopes to sell 200 000 cars in China, compared with 47 000 last year. 2011 Volvo Cars sold a total of 450 000 cars world wide.
