Over 1000 Sony Jobs in Lund, Southern Sweden threatened

It now looks like the employees of Sony in Lund, Sweden are on the way of loosing their jobs.
According to Swedish media reports, the company summoned a meeting to talk about the sharp cuts planned at Sony mobile in Lund.
The reports hold that between 1,000 and 1,500 employees are poised to
loose their jobs and the Japanese electronic company that recently
bought the remaining stake in the Swedish telecoms giant, Ericson has
decided to consolidate its internal economy .
The company management reportedly called all its Lund- based staff
members to a meeting on Thursday at 9 am, according to Ulf Bengtsson,
shop steward for Swedish engineers at Sony Mobile in Lund, reports
Swedish news agency TT.
The company is currently reviewing its strategic plan and is
considering completely moving its development of new phone models
to Japan. In Lund, the company wants to continue with only focus
on local software development.
In July, the company announced its plan to move its headquarters from
Lund to Tokyo. The change was not intended to result in any substantial
job cuts. But now they want it to go much further. The changes being
discussed could mean that the current workforce of 3,000 people will
almost be halved.
