Fast broadband, a common future in Sweden

Nearly half of all households and businesses in Sweden last year had access to fast broadband.
That is an
increase of 5 percentage points compared to 2010 due to expansion of
the fibre optic capabilities, according to the Swedish Post and Telecom
Agency (PTS) in its annual broadband survey.
More than half
a million of households in October 2011, had the fastest subscriptions,
an increase of about 140 000 subscriptions.
PTS Director
Goran Marby is considerable interest in fiber optics, both for
operators, village communities and local associations. PTS financial
support in monetary terms to these village communities in improves
their broadband capabilities for 2012 is already over.
Sweden aims to catch up wit the likes of Korea in the deployment of fast broadband in terms of speed and accessibility.
