Record-low unemployment in Germany – We admire the Germans

Unemployment in Germany has fallen to a record level. According to statistics published today, the unemployment rate in Europe’s biggest economy last year recorded the lowest level in 20 years.

In December, the German unemployment rate of 6.8 percent - 0.1 percentage points down from the previous month. In one month the number of unemployed was reduced by 22 000.

For the full year the unemployment rate was as low as 7.1 percent. The figure is better than markets had expected. Almost three million Germans are out of work. Unemployment is not expected to increase over this year.

Germanys has a population of over 80 million people and it is the leading economic powerhouse of the EU.
