Swedish air travel site closes in Belarus as political tension between the two countries continue to deep

Friday, 17 August 2012
The Swedish web service that deal with flights – Flight Radar 24 has been shut down in Belarus, as the tension between Sweden and Belarus continues to rage.

The Swedish news agency TT reports that THE site registers flight traffic and users can follow planes in real time.

TT says that according to the company, the Belarusian Internet service providers have blocked the server that the site is on.

It is uncertain why the site was blocked a few days ago, but as Belarus stepped up its air defences in the wake of the incident where a Swedish PR firm threw teddy bears with opposition message from an airplane on the capital, the authorities have stepped up their fight to protect their air defences.
