Industrifonden invests in Actiwave to develop new audio quality technology
Thursday, 06 September 2012Industrifonden is investing SEK 13 million in Actiwave, which is developing a technology that improves audio quality in mobile phones, tablets and other devices.
The current owner, SEB Venture Capital, is also participating in the new issue. The money will be used for a market launch, said Industrifonden in a press release.
Actiwave, a spin-off from research at Linköping University, has developed a new technology to improve sound quality in small speakers with limited space and battery capacity, e.g., in mobile phones, laptops, tablets and televisions.
Actiwave combines expertise in acoustics and human hearing with pioneering digital audio research. The company is now offering a technology that can easily be integrated in its customers’ various platforms.
“Actiwave has a technology that produces rich sound from small speakers,” says Hadar Cars, Investment Manager at Industrifonden. He adds that “We are confident that the company has great opportunities to succeed in the market, considering that demand for better sound in small devices is huge and growing.”
The company was founded in 2007 and its technology is reported to be well-proven through the Opalum line of ultrathin speakers.
