Thursday, 12 September 2013
The Swedish arms manufacturer Saab continues to remain on the positive
side of the news after it emerged today that through its
co-operations with the U.S. Boeing, it now plans to offer Gripen
aircraft to the U.S. Air Force’s educational TX future trainer
requirement.
This comes from Swedish business daily, Dagens Industri quoting U.S.
air industry magazine, Aviation Week on Wednesday, citing informed
sources.

The Magazine writes that Boeing and Saab will announce “in weeks rather
than months” that they will team up to offer the JAS 39 Gripen for the
U.S. Air Force’s T-X future trainer requirement, according to sources
familiar with the deal. Saab is apparently confident that the two
companies will be able to undercut the cost of the closest rival
contender, the Lockheed Martin/Korea Aerospace Industries T-50.

confirms nor denies it. Saab declines to comment on the information to
Swedish news network Direct on Thursday.
“I have seen the media reporting., we discuss partnerships with
multiple stakeholders and partners, and if there is anything new to say
about them we make it, but until then we have nothing to comment on,
“said press secretary Helene Lindstrand according to Dagens Nyheter.
Saab and Boeing ‘s are competitors in Brazil’s ongoing procurement of
fighter aircraft, but in commercial aircraft production, Boeing is
Saab’s biggest customers.
