According to Swedish business daily, Dagens Industri, Sweden’s Skåne southern peninsula, and the German mainland is about 100km. This means that there could be a possibility of building a high-speed tunnel on the route, the paper writes.
The
report, to be presented by Skanska ‘s design director Robert Struk in
about a month time, analyze the tunnel as part of a project to build a
high-speed line from Oslo via Gothenburg to Berlin and on to Prague,
Munich and Venice. The study looked at the basic geological factors, such as water depth and rock.
“We see really nothing that says that we should abandon the project, “said Robert Stuk to Dagens Industri.
The total cost for the mammoth project is estimated at over Skr100 billion. Both states and private players are expected to contribute to the funding.
