Denmark set sails to seek wealth in Mexico as it expands its emerging market campaign

Demark is
setting sails across the pond to seek a share in the Mexican booming
market. The Scandinavian country feels that there are opportunities to
make some money with their leadership in energy, health, and food
products.
The Danish
trade mission believes that there is a lot of money in Mexico and jobs
in sight in Denmark, if Denmark gets a better foothold in the booming
Mexican market. In fact, they boast that Danish companies can have a
strong hand in Mexico - especially within the areas of energy, health,
and food products.
This came from
the Danish government, which just launched a new emerging market
strategy that aims to increase Danish exports to the Latin American
country with 50 percent.
According to
the Foreign Minister, that areas has a large and untapped potential as
one of the fastest growing nations of south of the United States. It is
determined that within the next decade Mexico would have become one of
the world's 10 largest economies.
"The overall
objective of the strategy is to increase exports to Mexico by 50
percent, said Foreign Minister, Villy Søvndal, according to a press
release. And adds that "especially green solutions and healthcare where
Denmark is strong. A great market is developing rapidly in Mexico,
which is the second largest economy in Latin America."
Trade Minister
Pia Olsen Dyhr calls Mexico a country in rapid development and
declares it an important export country for Denmark.
"Danish exports
creates 700,000 jobs and equal to 53 percent of our GDP. With the
emerging market strategy for Mexico, we will ensure that increased
exports to Mexico add more to these figures," she saids.
Danish
exports to Mexico, home to 116 million people are currently relatively
modest. If the government reaches its target, Denmark will sell goods
there for almost Dkr4 billion by 2016.
With the launch
of the strategy for Mexico, the Danish government follow its pattern to
launched 10 emerging market strategies in one year. It includes markets
such as Indonesia, South Korea, South Africa, Vietnam, Turkey and the
BRIC countries.
