Thursday, 23 February 2012
The Manager of the Swedish tax authority, Ingemar Hansson thinks that
the current Swedish tax system makes it too difficult to do the right
thong. Speaking t the Swedish business daily,
Dagens industri, he believes that there must be some changes in the nearest future.
Last year the Swedish tax authority raised taxes on varies objects to
the tone of some Skr4.3 billion and also from various
corrections. In fact, increased is retroactively tax levy of
skr22.7 billion. At the same time it resulted in checks that other
companies and individuals were returned Skr18.4 billion.
While the agency works to combat cheating and money laundry, the later
is more unknown: Errors, and unintended mistakes were popular. It would
then amount to billions of krona.
An example of a common error that has emerged recently is that the
ability of entrepreneurs to get deductions on their personal
contributions with Skr10,000 that were introduced from mid last year.
This is however, not available to all who are entitled. The reason is
that one must check a box on their tax return as such many people
missed, according Ingemar Hansson.
"We saw many who had not done it but that should meet the requirements. Then we asked some questions and some got their cut. "
For individuals Hansson hesitate to mention the type of error which are most common.
"It is very wrong in terms of capital gains from share sales. Many have
developed a higher profit than they rightfully should pay tax on, "he
exemplifies.
Ingemar Hansson on the whole pressed on the importance of simplicity.
"Today, I think that it is even more important with simple rules with
as much automation as possible, in the form of control, and more. In
particular, compared to when I was a researcher at the university. But
even compared to when I was Secretary at the Treasury I have greater
insight into the importance of things remaining simple, "he says,
When you think of the importance of simplicity, already in the
legislative phase, the rest of the journey becomes easy - especially
for the Tax management.
"Then both citizens and businesses become more inclined to play by the rules, "said Hansson.
