Swedish finance minister, Anders Borg lowers Swedish growth forecast
Friday, 17 February 2012The Swedish government is likely going to revise down its GDP forecast for this year to a growth of around 0.5 percent.
This is the view of the Swedish Finance Minister, Anders Borg when he’ll talked to reporters on Friday. This will challenges the government budget in which the government’s GDP forecast has been determined to be 1.3 percent for 2012.
"We’ll probably revise down growth, but it is based on an accumulated optimistism, "he said, pointing out that there are signs that pessimism is beginning to break into Europe.
He said that Sweden has strong fundamentals and the government expects that growth "takes a little more speed" in 2013.
He did not give any detailed comments on the scope for reform for next year, but pointed out that it is still too early to tell. He pointed out that there are already some pretty big steps to be taken in the budget, which includes more focus on efforts to research and development and infrastructure.
