The law on age discrimination in various places in Sweden to be sharpened in a new review

The Swedish government wants to strengthen legislation against age discrimination with a new law vying to take effect from 1 January 2013.

The Swedish ageist society – where people are discriminated because of their age will see a strong clamp down soon with a new law coming in to repudiate age discrimination in almost all works of life.

The Minister of Integration, Erik Ullenhag made this clear at a press conference on Monday.
Today, there is law that prohibited age discrimination in employment. This law wants to be extended to include, among others, public meeting, public event, state student financial aid, and health care.
The law makes exceptions for age in pubs, gambling and sale of tobacco.
