Swedish population will hit 10 million in six years as immigration leads to fastest population growth

The Swedish population is growing and it has now been statistically shown that the in six years, the Swedish population will reach 10 million people.

A new figure from Statistics Sweden (SCB) shows that the Swedish population is expected to grow much stronger than previous forecasts.
SCB show that Sweden will have 10 million people in Sweden in 2018, nearly half a million more than the 9,532,634 that was last determined in August this year. This is due to more births, immigration increase, and low deaths.

According to the forecast, immigration is the biggest contributor to the increase, but it is also the most difficult to predict because war and unrest can alter population movement quickly.

However, authorities believe that the impact of increase immigration growth on the population movement will be dampened as emigration increases which also on the rise, when people from other Nordic countries and migrant workers returning to their home countries.

The forecast also mention that increase adoption of the IVF that might fertility and thus birth rates will remain at a high level.

Men are getting older means than expected thus, there is the expectation of fewer widows and increased gender balance in the future. It is projected that 25 percent of the population will 65 or older in the late 2050s.
