Swedish king celebrates 40 years on the swedish thrown and throws a public party

Today, Swedish King, Carl XVI Gustaf celebrates 40 years as the king of Sweden. This called for lots of people to the palace where there was dancing, pump and fanfare.
Around the City of Stockholm, there were commemorations of the anniversary in which the Swedish kingdom also invited the Royal house for mass celebration. The festivities began at midday on Sunday and peaked at 15 o'clock with some brief speeches from the King and a royal presenter.

The hundreds of people waving Swedish flags gathered below the Lejonbacken at the Castle and cheered for the King when he stepped forward and thanked them for the best wishes.
"Dear subjects, thanks for this amazing dish that I have received from you. It feels great, it feels warm and it is something I will remember for the rest of my life," the king said in his speech to his people.

Then he opened the gates to the inner courtyard which transformed into a giant dance floor and the party continues well into the late evening.

On hand was the Swedish Royal family, Queen Margrethe of Denmark and Norway's King Harald and Queen Sonja were in attendance.
