Liberalisation fastest in Sweden than anywhere else in the developed economies

Saturday, 24 March 2012
Sweden is one of the few advanced economies where liberalization has been the fastest in the world in terms of deregulation, privatization and reforms on choice, a think tank, The Heritage Foundation said.

"Among developed economies, Sweden is the fastest mover in the ranking since 1996, "said Anthony Kim, a political analyst at the prestigious American think tank, reports the Swedish daily, Svenska Dagbladet.

The trend has been driven on by both the bourgeois and Social Democrat governments.
With the migration of labour, independent school and the deregulation of the railways systems, Sweden stands out in comparison with other countries.

The Swedish rules on labour migration, which requires that a worker need only be offered the work to be welcome, means that Sweden is the most open in the OECD, says the organization.

Although the Swedish school system is among the most liberal in the world similar could be found only in Chile. But unique is that the Swedish government does not care about who owns the school.

"In 20 years we went from one of the most regulated school system to the world’s most liberal, "says economist Jonas Vlachos to Svenska Dagbladet.

Also with regard to the liberalization of the railway system, Sweden is a world leader.
