Fewer Swedish people want reduced immigration

Monday, 02 July 2012
A shock new survey result in Sweden shows that there is a marked trend reversal in the immigration debate in the country. Fewer and fewer believe that Sweden is receiving too many immigrants.

This detracts from the view of the far rights such as the party, Sweden Democrats which wants the government to cut the amount of immigrants into the country.
A new survey conducted by the polling organisation, Sifo shows that the figure for immigration perception of the Swedish people dropped by ten percentage points since 2004.

“It's not a strange development,” says the Sweden Democrats party leader Jimmie Åkesson.
More and more people think Sweden has received enough or too few immigrants and Sweden Democrats are the party that most places in the far right in politics, the survey show.

Swedes' views on immigration have varied over the years. But since 2000, more of them think less and less that Sweden has taken in immigrants far too many immigrants. “More and more people believe that we have received immigrants into bite-size or that we should have taken in more” says the survey.

However, though it is not seen as a strange development, there remains a very large part of the Swedish people who think Sweden hat has received for too many immigrants according to the leader of the far right party, Sweden Democrats, Jimmie Åkesson.
