Danish Buying spree in Sweden over

Friday, 05 October 2012
The time when Denmark used to drive the Swedish economy through their spending spree in southern Sweden has now virtually come to an end.

The strong Swedish krona has meant that the Danes are losing the desire to go to Sweden and spend their money. So the Swedish shops find it hard to attract the Danes as such the Swedes are loosing more than a billion Swedish Krona per year, according to trade estimates.

Added to the currency woes, the Danish krona on its own has weakened and their economy is not performing pretty well. This year, therefore, the Danish buying spree has permanently stopped, writes the Swedish daily,  Sydsvenskan.

"The big impact came in the summer. Prices are no longer any reason for a Danish to go to Sweden," says Fredrik Junkka at Swedish Retail Institute told the newspaper.
