Sweden's Social Democrat leader, Stefan Löfven takes big step towards popularity

Sunday, 09 June 2013
The leader of the Swedish Social Democrats party, Stefan Löfven who should be the next Prime Minister  should his current opposition party and coalition win the next election is seeing his popularity shift upwards somewhat.

A clear majority polled however, continue to believe that Fredrik Reinfeldt, the current Premier is better than Stefan Löfven to lead a government according to an opinion poll from a polling organisation Skop. 63.5 percent see Reinfeldt as skilful over corresponding figure for Löfven, which is 36.5 percent.

None the less, Mr. Reinfeldt has seen his lead reduced by 0.8 percentage points compared with the month before.

The poll also shows that most people would choose to have the Social Democrat leader,  Löfven beside them at the dinner table though that choice is split more evenly between the two party leaders. 50.8 percent would rather have Reinfeldt at the table while 49.2 percent would prefer Löfven.

The survey covers more than 1,000 people aged between 18 and 84 years, and was conducted between 29 April and 16 May.

It shows that as Löfven is known more as time passes, voters tend to understand him and begin to see the other part of him, which he has not shown before. Reinfeldt, being an incumbent and has been working and living in many living rooms in the country, people had got used to his rhythm hence why he is still popular.
