Goteborg central station, Sweden.
Swedish Minister for Infrastructure, Catharina Elmsäter-Swärd told
Swedish television news on Monday of the happy development and how the
money will be used.
More than a billion of that money will go directly to Trafikverket or
the Swedish transport administration, which it is expected will be used
for new investments in the country's infrastructure.
Nearly a fifth of all EU funds and grants awarded under the
trans-European transport network has gone to Sweden according to the EU
Commission's proposal. A total of over Skr2.6 billion is awarded for
about 21 infrastructure projects in which Swedish players are included.
Examples of projects receiving EU money is Hallandsås project, the
construction of Marieholmsvägen Bridge in Gothenburg and terminal
extension of Värtan - a strait in Stockholm, Sweden separating mainland
Stockholm from the island and municipality Lidingö, in Stockholm.
