Sweden openly walking into a xenophobic state as the far rights continues to gain grounds

Sunday, 16 December 2012
With almost all the other political parties, either in a coalition that supports or created the current status-quo, or in government, the only outsider in the Swedish political setup is the far right party, Sweden Democrats. Once hated, it is gradually being loved and by the time of the  next election, Sweden could be one of the few xenophobic nations in Europe.

This is because,  the Swedish far right party, the Sweden Democrats is pulling more and more voters every month when opinion polls are taken. The recent one, taken by polling organisation, Sifo in December, for the Swedish dailies, Svenska Dagbladet and Göteborgs-Posten, it show that the far rights are now having a record support, 10.0 percent of voters. This comes just within a month when the party stood at 9 percent despite violent behaviour and open hate rhetoric preached by the party's leadership.

The increase in the party's  support since November is 1.5 percentage points. The Left  Pasty is also increasing, by 1.3 percentage points and get 5.9 percent. The Social Democrats continues to fall - fell by 1.8 percentage points, but is still remains the largest party in the country with 32.1 percent. Conservative  Moderates fell to 28.2 percent. The Alliance coalition now stands at 41.7 percent compared to the Red-Green's 47.7.

The far right is gaining more support from the older Swedish people aged over 65 years, according to Sifo.
