The information that Vattenfall wants to buy Russian nuclear fuel has been received by the Social Democrat MP, Peter Hultqvist, with consternation. He told Swedish television that he wants answers from the Defense Minister, Karin Enström (Moderate) on how the purchase affects Swedish security.
"There is a strong security policy aspect associated with this which it seems Vattenfall has not taken into account," says Peter Hultqvist, chairman of the parliamentary defence committee to Swedish television.

He says that he will ask in a parliamentary question session to Karin Enstrom if security policy has been handled fairly by Vattenfall when negotiating to buys nuclear fuel from Russia. He also says that he is concerned because Russia has previously linked foreign and security policy to energy policy.
"There are examples of how Russia has used energy issues as a lever, on foreign policy for example, when gas supplies were cut off to Ukraine," says Peter Hultqvist to Swedish television news.
