Social Democrat leader, Stefan Löfven, points to Segregation being one of the biggest challenges facing Sweden

Tuesday, 21 August 2012
Segregation in Stockholm is one of the biggest challenges facing the town and it reflect what happens in Sweden,  according to the leader of Sweden's  Social Democratic party, Stefan Löfven, in a latest interview.

talking to the Swedish daily, Dagens Nyheter, "I do not have the exact solution. But there is discrimination in our society - we must admit it," says Löfven to Dagens Nyheter.
The leader of the Social Democrat party, Stefan Löfven, believe that Stockholm has a "pretty big" segregation problem. It is one of the biggest challenges facing the city,  he told the paper.

"In a global economy, when we have such a wealth of people from all parts of the world - that we do not take advantage of them, is a major short coming," says Löfven to the paper.

As an example he mentions the taxi trade which after chatting with taxi drivers he realised how many of them are trained doctors or engineers. He says that "we are doing obviously something that is not good enough."

Löfven stresses that he does not want to put all the blame on the government parties.
"You can not sit between the parties and throw potato to each of their knee, "it is your fault, it's your fault," he said to the paper.

Sweden boast of having some of the largest diverse population in the developed world but it has persistently shown in various studies that non Swedish white people have most disadvantages when it comes to jobs, housing and  education. Even getting a loan to start their own business is hard through the banks.
