Scandal in the Swedish far right party, Sweden Democrats means increase popularity

The Swedish far right party, Sweden Democrats is currently associated with violence and xenophobia scandals. But those scandals seems to have propelled the part's popularity.

A new opinion poll out today show hoe the party has gained more support among voters meaning that the Swedish voting public sympathise with the party as it goes through one of its tough times.

Sweden Democrats in November recorded one of its highest ever achieved polling result according to an opinion poll conducted by polling organisation, Novus for television channel, TV4.

According to the polling result, The party has the support of 8.6 percent of the electorate, an increase of 2.1 percentage points compared to October. The increase is statistically significant.

The party is winning especially among older voters and in the Stockholm area. Voters are coming mainly from the Conservatives Moderates and the Social Democrats.

The Conservatives continue to back off, as do the People's Party, while the Centre Party and the Christian Democrats saw some marginal increase.

For the Red - Green opposition coalition the Social Democrats made some looses while the Left Party and the Green Party saw some improvements in support.

Taken together, the leadership of the Red-Green opposition coalition has now increased to 7.7 percentage points over the governing Alliance coalition.
