Thursday, 21 March 2013
The authorities in Norway are pondering on a the proposal to provide police with drones as the remote and unmanned aircraft, known as drones, can become a part of the Norwegian police force.

As the  police is considering the use of drones as a tool to use and ease its work, it has not been able to make this policy public  and their deliberations has remain obscure, according to Norwegian media reports.

"The technology is now considered to be at a level which indicate that the police should consider drones as a tool, wrote the Police data and equipment service (PDMT) in a letter to the Norwegian chief police on February according to media reports.
At the same time the PDMT recommended that a working group will be established task to assess how police can use drones.

Rune Andersen from the emergency department in the Police Directorate in Oslo confirms that drones can be present for the police - "he technology gives the police new opportunities to leverage its resources and solve problems more effectively. We have so far not taken a position on the use of drones, but it is one of several technological areas that we assess in more detail in the time ahead."
