Many people in Norway share Breivik’s ideas - Wikipedia Norway shows

Friday, 20 April 2012
The Norwegian version of Wikipedia, Anders Behring Brevik sympathizers and those who share his ideology are struggling to express their ideas there.

“There is no shortage of people who share Breiviks opinions among users of Wikipedia,” says Jarle Vines, head of Norway Wikipedia.

Wikipedia Norway is now stepping up checks to prevent articles that go in the particular political direction from being posted. Jarle Vines seeks more members who can edit items in an objective manner.

“There is a problem that most active users are a homogenous group. More should take responsibility and I would particularly like to see more women contributing. We must remember that this is our children's textbook,” he said.

Activity of anti-Islamist and extremist online forums have increased since the trial of Anders Breivik Behring began, writes Norwegian paper, Dagsavisen, according to NTB.

The organization, Stop the Islamisation of Norway said that the number of members has increased since Monday and that it also received a donation of Nkr50 000 a week.

“We are not a racist organization, and we strongly reject Breiviks documents. But many share certain opinions,” says the organization's chairman Arne Tumyr.
