Swedish Foreign Minister, Carl Bildt (pictured), believes that the signals of new Israeli settlements is extremely worrying and has sought the Israeli ambassador to his office for explanation.
"In Stockholm, Israeli ambassador right now is summoned to the Foreign Ministry so that we can get further understanding in this matter. The same thing takes place in London and in Paris," said Carl Bildt in the Riksdag, Swedish parliament.
"We will work with other EU countries to discuss the further steps that may be necessary," he said.
The opposition, Social Democrats' foreign policy spokesman, Urban Ahlin believes that it is not enough that Sweden languishing in the background of other EU countries.
"Sweden has to lead the politics and point out diection," he said.
"We think that Sweden should recognize Palestine bilaterally. We do not accept Israel's policy, which step by step prevents a Palestinian statehood," Ahlin said.
He also reiterated the need for the EU to adopt a labelling so that consumers can see which goods come from the settlements.
